Amur region lost almost nine million rubles from illegal logging
The damage from illegal felling of trees in the Amur region in the 2018 year amounted to 8,8 million rubles. Specialists recorded more than 164 cases of illegal logging, and the volume of wood harvested in this way was 1 064 cubic meters.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Forestry and Fire Safety of the Amur Region, the most illegal logging was found in Zeya, Shimanovsky, Blagoveshchensky and Svobodnensky districts. On the facts of illegal logging 27 filed criminal cases and made 125 administrative protocols.
This year, the Amur Region plans to increase the number of state forest inspectors by 39 staff members. Until 2028, their number will reach the standard indicators - 763 state inspectors will work in the region. This will minimize the number of violations, including illegal logging.
The ministry has also prepared amendments to the regional law “On the organization of activities of wood reception and shipment points in the Amur Region”. They will oblige wood collectors and processors to register production sites and warehouses so that inspectors can control their activities, as well as the volumes of received and shipped wood.
